Includes: Strike & MOOP

The LNT (Leave No Trace) team is in charge of planning, setting up, and maintaining the MOOP (Matter Out Of Place) station throughout the event, emphasizing the importance of minimizing MOOP items and proper disposal methods. They ensure an organized system for sorting trash, provide equipment for MOOP sweeps, and handle the separation and disposal of recyclable items. The team also oversees the camp’s burn barrel, plans for the strike of camp structures, and coordinates the dismantling of private sleeping arrangements, with a dedicated team for strike initiation and a “last men standing” team until Tuesday after the event.

Detailed description for camp members

The team is responsible for planning, setting up and maintaining the MOOP-station from build to strike. This includes informing members of the need to minimize packaging materials and other potential MOOP-items they bring to BRC, prohibited items, e.g. feathers, glitter and how the MOOP-station should be used. A plan for how personal MOOP shall be handled must be communicated clearly and followed up during the event.

The team should plan and set up the MOOP-station so sorting of trash is made easy. There should be a system for handling full bags of trash during the event and a plan for disposal post event. All items that can be recycled should be separated and taken care of in the best possible way for the environment.

The team should also make sure that there is equipment for MOOP-sweeps, e.g. rakes and brooms. Organizing MOOP-shifts, informing the leads for each shift of what is expected, updating check-lists and making these available is also the responsibility of the team.

The team should also set up the camp’s burn barrel and make sure trash that can be burnt is separated and handled the right way (Paper, cardboard). The team should sign up for recycling or organic waste if there is such a camp at BM.

The team is responsible for setting up a plan for the strike of the camp. The primary responsibility is to strike the camp’s structures, but also communicating when private sleeping arrangements should be taken down. Strike is initiated on Saturday with a dedicated team of approximately 30 persons (the team should assist in assigning these members). The main strike should be on Sunday where all camp members are expected to join. The team is responsible for assigning a “last men standing” team of at least 5 persons staying until Tuesday after the event.
